Eva turns 4 months old

I'm a month behind writing this post but am trying my best to get the highlights:-)

Her sleep habits have changed...She no longer sleeps through the night:-(  I blame it on going back to work.  The week I went back, she started waking.  She is just waking once and will go back to sleep after nursing.  I have noticed her diaper being very heavy when she wakes, so maybe that is waking her.  I've seen a Pampers commercial showing how babies in their diapers sleep through the night so I bought some;-)  The first night she was in the Pampers diaper she slept through the night!  I couldn't believe the diaper made her sleep:-)  The next night and all the nights after that she continued to wake so I guess the diaper wasn't the trick.

Her car rides are getting better!  She is able to hold on to a "crinkle book" and that keeps her very entertained.  She still has times when she rather not be in the car but we have turned the corner!

She continues to love bath time.

Her giggle is one of a kind.  It's more of a cackle and if you didn't know she was laughing you would think she is crying:-)

4 month stats:
26" long - 97th percentile
16.8 lbs - 97th percentile

We have ourselves one lil big gal:-)  She is wearing mostly 6 month clothes and I'm trying to part with all the cute 3 month clothing that I can't squeeze her into.

4th of July

We had a packed 4th planned and it all went very well.  Lenexa puts on a great parade so we headed to that in the morning.  Lessons learned from attending the Old Shawnee Day Parade and we were prepared for this one.  But learned a few more things for next years parade.  We will bring our tent to sit under and get there just a little bit earlier.  The location we found was pretty good but all the shade was taken by time we got there.  Eva did great, basically sleeping the whole time while I wore her.  Hunter loved sitting in his wagon and then getting out to dance or wave at the different people going by.

After the parade we headed out to buy some fireworks.  Next year we will be more prepared but still got some good fireworks to shoot off.  Then we headed to Jeremy's grandparents where we spent the rest of the day.  They live in KCK so doing fireworks was legal:-)

We had planned on going to watch a show but we decided not too.  I'm glad we didn't because the view from their house was perfect.  We saw lots of different fireworks around the city.  Hunter liked watching the shows.  He was so worn out by time we went home but stayed awake the whole way home.  He kept looking at the window to find fireworks:-)

June Picture Update

Here is a picture update from June.

Hunter at Old Shawnee Days.  We got rockstar parking and viewing for the parade.  It was rainy that morning and kept a lot of people away.  Hunter had a blast watching the parade and we learned that for the next parade to bring some kind of bag for all the loot:-)

Jeremy and Hunter checking out some of the rides  at OSD.

Eva being sweet

Hunter checking out the pool.  I was brave enough to take Hunter and Eva to a public pool by myself.  It wasn't too bad.  The pool had a great set up for kids and I pretty much just held Eva the whole time.
We have been back a few times:-)

While waiting to buy something from Craigslist.  We arrived early and the seller was late so I ended up taking Eva out of her seat and letting her sprawl out on the seat.

While Eva was laying there I discovered her first freckle.
Hard to see from the picture but it's about an inch away from my thumb:-)

Father and daughter watching tv

kiddos and bow-bow

Visit with Great-Grandma Slack

Eva's first time sitting in the highchair

Bow's birthday treats.  Hunter loved picking them out at Three Dog Bakery and Bow loved eating them:-)

Visit from Uncle Mark.  Hunter is going through a phase where he closes his eyes when taking a picture.

Another book bites the dust.  Bow ripped and ate this book while we were at Jeremy's parents one night.  Bow gets very upset when he isn't taken somewhere he knows he can go.  When we are leaving we try not to say where we are going.  It's pretty sad.  But I need to be better at picking up the books when we leave.  Later that night Bow didn't eat dinner.  The next day I got a text from my mom saying why he didn't eat.  He had thrown up and it was pretty much all book.  I wont add the picture she sent;-)

Hunter and Wes

Hunter on Wes' bike

Deanna Rose trip.  Hunter just calls it the farm.  Another  outing with just Hunter and Eva.  I felt pretty good about our visit by ourselves until we were in the parking lot walking to the car and Hunter ran right into the side mirror of the car parked right next to us.  Hunter doesn't cry much but he sure let out a big cry with lots of tears:-(

Love the expression on Hunter's face

Eva's 3 month Pictures

3 months is hard to photograph.  She isn't too happy on her tummy and can't sit up.  But I love having her cute little face captured.  Here are a few pictures from her session.

Waking Hunter up from Naps

Eva and I have been waking Hunter up from his nap and he loves to have Eva lay in his crib (yep...he is still in his crib...doesn't try to climb out so he is still there) with him.  He will talk to her and show her his books.  It's pretty cute.

Eva turns 3 months old!

Eva continues to be a great sleeper at night!  It takes a little while to get her down but she is usually down by 9-9:30 and will sleep until 9 the next morning!  I've been able to get Hunter up, feed him breakfast and clean up before little Eva wakes.  She is usually awake for about an hour and then is ready to go back to sleep.  She will usually take 3-4 naps during the day.  She has outgrown the bathroom sink for baths and is now taking baths in the baby tub and LOVES it.  She can be super fussy but as soon as I'm getting her ready for her bath and she sits in the water she is all happy.  We have developed a night time routine of bath and nursing.  I need to start reading her books for as of right now she is ready for lights out after bath.

The dreaded car ride....Poor girl is so unhappy in the car.  Hunter does a great job of not acting bothered by her screaming.  There was even one point where she stopped crying for 30 seconds and Hunter asked where Eva went:-)

Tummy time still is a struggle but is getting a tad better.

Eva attended lots of events this month.  A wedding, a couple birthday parties, coworker get together, Old Shawnee Days Parade and festival.  She really likes to be worn in the Ergo Carrier so that has been a life saver! Hunter likes to go on walks so I will carrier her that way and we will walk around the neighborhood and sometimes up to the park.  We did go to our neighborhood pool once but Eva was too fussy to be there long.

She is quickly growing out of her 0-3 months clothes and is well on her way to be out of her 3 month clothes.  I stepped on the scale at one point this month with her and she was 15lbs.

I went back to work on June 9th and she did ok for my mom.  We were really concerned about her taking a bottle because she had been screaming at them.  But she has been ok with them.  She still prefers me but hasn't put up too much of a fight with the bottle for my mom.  Of course her sleeping has changed the last few days of the month and is waking earlier...

Eva's Loves:
being carried
bath time
laying in her play gym (she has even fallen asleep a few times while playing!)
listening to music
being talked to

Eva's Dislikes:
car seat and car rides
