Easter Bunny and Coloring Eggs

We had a successful trip to Oak Park Mall to see the Easter Bunny.  Hunter did well and Eva cooperated long enough for a picture.

Hunter enjoyed coloring eggs:-)  Glad it was a nice day so we could do it outside and not worry about making a mess.

Eva Turns 1 Month Old

Eva's first month flew by but at the same time it feels like she has been here longer.  She did a lot of sleeping and at 3.5 weeks old she slept the whole night...from about 11:15 to 8:00.  And she only woke because I "had" to take a picture of her and the flash woke her up.  It was crazy and she continued to do that for the next week.  She sleeps pretty well during the day but in the evening she is the master of cluster feeding.  So we basically just hang out on the couch and she is latched on and off for a couple hours.  I shower before bed so Jeremy will watch Eva and try to keep her happy.  For the first couple weeks, my showers were really short b/c I could hear her cry and not stop.  But by the end of the month she started to figure things out and would wait longer to start crying;-)

Eva has been sleeping in the pack and play in our room.  I like having her in the room but she is very noisy when sleeping and at times I think she is awake but she isn't.  She really likes to listen to music.  We have several baby sound machine type items and they all seem to get her attention.  The swing and bouncer don't seem to soother her.  She wants nothing to do with a pacifier.  But I'm not going to give up on trying to find one that works for her.  Nursing is her favorite thing to sooth her.  Along with being a champion nurser she is a champion at the number of diapers she goes through during the day.  She can soak a newborn cloth diaper within 45 minutes.  It will be nice when she can wear a bigger size.  It doesn't take long for her to soak a disposable either.  She wore the newborn size diapers for about 2 weeks and now is wearing size 1.

She looks like her daddy but I have seen a few of my baby pictures that look like her.

Her one month check up went very well.
10 lbs 11oz - 90th percentile
22 inches long - 75th percentile
14.5 inches for head circumference - 55th percentile

Eva's Newborn Pictures

I'm obsessed with pictures so I didn't think twice about making sure I had Eva's newborn session set up before she was born:-)  We are having the same photographers that we had for Hunter to capture Eva's first year.  Here are a few pictures from the session and here is a link to a video the photographers put together for us: Introducing Eva

Gotta love how "hands on" big brother is:-)

Tonka Trucks

Hunter loves playing with trucks and a few weeks ago, Hunter and Jeremy went to Jeremy's parents house and collected all of Jeremy's old trucks from when he was little.  I wish I could have seen Hunters face when Jeremy brought them out!  They brought a huge box of them home but most have to be kept in the garage because there are so many.  But Hunter loves to go in the garage and pick out which one he is going to play with.

Here are a few pictures of him and his new crop of trucks.  This isn't all of them, just a select few:-)

Do they look alike?

To me, it's fun to see if Hunter and Eva look alike.  I've captured a few pictures that show that they do:-)

St. Patricks Day 2014

We didn't do much to celebrate this year but hopefully next year we will make it to a parade.  But we did dress in green, thanks to G-ma for the outfits for the kiddos:-)

Shannon and kids came for a visit and enjoyed playing for a while and even sat still for a few pictures.

The First Few Weeks with Eva

For the first few weeks after Eva was born we pretty much just hung out home.  We also did a lot of basketball watching despite KU's short tourney appearance.  Jeremy was off for two weeks so Hunter and he did a lot of playing together and giving me opportunities to nap when Eva was napping.  We had lots of visitors stop by to see Eva.  Hunter adjusted to her without any problems.  When she is nursing he, just plays and will say that Eva is drinking her milk. He is a big help when changing her diaper.  He likes to throw her diaper away to "make a basket".  And Bow-dog has done great with her.  Pretty much acts like nothing is different.

The Sunday after she was born, we went for a weight check and she was a rockstar.  We left the hospital with her weighing 8lbs 4oz and at the check she was at 8lbs and 7oz.  The nurse said they like to see the babies gain a half ounce to an ounce a day and she gained an ounce and a half each day:-)

One thing I really dislike is the umbilical cord stump.  I'm always scared that clothes are rubbing it and causing pain.  I also don't like cleaning it but I lucked out and hers fell off at 5 days!  It was the night before her newborn photo shoot:-)  I'll post her newborn pictures in a separate post.
