Shawnee BBQ

On Friday we visited my brother Andy at the Shawnee BBQ.  Him and his friend have a booth every year.  Though I didn't eat the BBQ (Andy did have some vegetarian baked beans for me and potato salad both were yummy), everyone else said it was really tasty and really enjoyed what they cooked up.

Union Pacific Family Day

A few weekends ago we made a trip down to my dads work for Family Day.  Last year we didn't make it down there until almost the end.  This year we got there at the beginning and had a lot of fun!  We didn't have to wait in lines and we were able to see all they had for the little ones to do.  Though my dad will be retiring in the next few months we hope that we will continue going to family days while the kids are little.

The first 15 weeks of Pregnancy

I like to say that I found out about the pregnancy on my birthday but I really took a test the day before.  It was an internet-cheapie test that came with some ovulation predictor test I had ordered.  I waited the 3 minutes to look at it and from afar I couldn’t see a line.  I was bummed but then I held it up and really examined the test…strained my eyes and I could faintly (and I mean faintly) see a line!!  Wow.  I couldn’t believe it.  So excited!!  Well I kept the news to myself all day because Jeremy was at work (ok, I might have said something to Hunter and Bow;-).  That night I told Jeremy and he was thrilled.  But again…it was just a very faint line and I would test again in the morning.  So the next morning (my birthday) I tested on another cheapie test and same faint line.  Even though a line is a line I wanted to know for sure for sure.  So I went to Walmart and bought a digital test.  And soon enough I got to read the word “pregnant”.  Woohoo!!  Best birthday ever!!!  Jeremy was at work so I just sent him a pic of the test:-)

Later that day I made some cards for our parents that said "Promoted...to Big Brother!" and we delivered them later that day.  We obviously can’t keep things to ourselves.  We really wanted our parents to know b/c we were so excited.  With Hunter we were able to keep the pregnancy to ourselves for almost 2 weeks and had planned on keeping it longer but my family ratted me out by not drinking on Thanksgiving that year.

About a week went by and then it hit me.  I couldn’t eat anything, but I had to eat b/c if not I felt faint, nothing sounded good to eat, nauseated all day.  What was all this?  I didn’t feel this way with Hunter.  I went through weeks of eating 3-4 cans of potato soup a day, having rolls with cream cheese, trying other soups and then just settling on plain noodles.  The past few weeks baked potatoes has been my food of choice and peanut butter toast.  When I turned 12 weeks I had hopes of all the ickiness going away…it didn’t so then I thought 14 weeks and it didn’t, now I’m thinking around 20 weeks, I’ll start feeling better.  I understand now that every pregnancy can really be different!  Oh and I feel worse at night then I do in the morning and during the day.

I’ve had 3 prenatal appointments.  At the first appointment the dr did a sonogram so we could see the little bean.  The second appointment we got to hear the heartbeat with the Doppler.  The third one was super fast and got to hear the heartbeat.

First 15 week aversions:
Mexican food – that’s so sad but it is what it is.
Onions
Water and Mild for a few weeks but I can drink it again now

Cravings:
Not much of anything.  I just have to eat what sounds good at the time

Symptoms:
Frequent bathroom use.  Get up once or twice or three times during the night.
Round ligament pain if I stand up to fast
headaches

Cally turns 3

A few weeks ago our niece (Jeremy's sister's daughter) Cally turned 3!  She had a cute little princess party.  Every little girl needs to have a princess party!  Her and her mom went and had her nails and hair done for the party.  She was one pretty princess!

Happy Birthday Cally!

Big Cedar

Over Labor Day, we went to Big Cedar Lodge for a few days.  It was Hunter's first little trip and he did really well and had a blast.  On the way down he fell asleep within 45 minutes but when we drove through Clinton we got stop at a few lights and that woke him up and he was wide awake the rest of the way.
Little boy fell asleep reading his new book from Gran.

Wide awake...where are we going??

When we got to our cabin Hunter loved running from room to room looking at all the different animals.  The bad thing about our house is that there are so many stairs he doesn't get to "run free" so this was awesome to him.  After I got everything unpacked Jeremy and Hunter went to the marina to check things out while I cooked dinner.  They were gone a lot longer than I expected but I soon found out they were fishing and Hunter caught his first fish.

Our bedtime routine went pretty well.  Hunter did well in the jacuzzi tub and really enjoyed playing with new bath toys.  We read books in a big bed and ate cookies that were delivered to our room.  I brought our video monitor and was able to watch him fall asleep pretty fast in the crib they provided.  The little stinker slept better than he does at home!  Around 7:45 we decided to wake him up b/c we had a lot to do.  Jeremy knocked on his door and then tried to open it.  Well it wouldn't open and we figured it out was locked.  I didn't freak out too much b/c someone would be able to open it (now if in the middle of the night he would have woke up and was crying I would have been freaking out).  We called guest services and someone came out and was able to get it unlocked and then we were able to wake our little boy up!

Our day consisted of fishing, pool time at 2 different pools including a lazy river, a great nap and more fishing.

The look on Hunter's face cracks me up!

Most of the time Hunter just enjoyed playing with a big stick

"Hunter's Deer"  Hunter loved waking up and running out of his room to see the deer each morning.
On our last day we just had a pony ride scheduled for Hunter.  Every time we talked about going on a pony ride he would say "Hy-Vee?"  Meaning that he rides the pony at hy-vee:-)  But we would tell him, this pony will be much better then the one at Hy-Vee.  Hunter didn't know what to think about the pony but seemed to have a good time on the ride.  He kept calling the cowboy who helped him a farmer.  So now when we talk about the pony ride he will say "farmer".
