Air Show

Last year, we took Hunter to an air show at New Century airport and he loved it.  So we knew we needed to go this year because his love of planes has grown even bigger.  He loved watching all the planes fly and kept saying WOW!  It was so much fun to watch how excited he was to see the planes.

August Picture Update

Hunter and Eva hanging out

Spidy
This huge spider made an awesome web on our front porch and after a while we decided he needed to live somewhere else so we (Jeremy) took his web down...the next morning he was back in a new web:-)

We truly enjoyed the program and wished Miss Kim could stick around for Eva's first 3 years.

Hunter's First Day of School

So I figure I better post before it was he last day.  :-)

The week before school started, Jeremy, Hunter and I went to an open house at his school where we met his teacher and some of his classmates.  Nothing new...but I knew I would be emotional:-)  Yes, even at just an open house event I was the teary-eyed mom.  It's just crazy how fast Hunter is growing up.  Hunter enjoyed playing with the dinosaurs in the classroom and checking out the playground.

His first day of school went well.  Drop off was good; just tears from me but Hunter did great.  The 2.5 hours he was there seemed to last forever:-)  Hunter was all smiles when I picked him up from school and I couldn't wait to hear all about his day.  Well, I didn't get much out of him.  All he would say was that he went down the slide and played with trucks...

We are now more than a month into the school year and Hunter looks forward to school days and enjoys going.

Eva Turns 6 months old!

Happy 1/2 Birthday Eva!  6 months old!!

What's been going on this past month...
She has been eating cereal, veggies and fruit.  She prefers the veggies over fruit and most times, we just skip the fruit.  Peas seem to be her favorite.
Over the past week she has been hard at work to sit on her own.  She does a good job and even sat well by herself for her 6 month pictures.
Not really rolling over.  Has done it a few times but she is more content sitting and if she's fussing she knows that someone will eventually (sooner than later) come to get her.
She loves to be held by me:-)  I still wear her a lot and my mom will even wear her in a sling:-)
We went to the pool more times at the end of August then we did all year.  Eva really enjoyed sitting in her floaty and watching Hunter swim around.
She has a napping schedule...naps for 30 to 40 minutes a few times a day:-)  Asleep for the night around 7 but is waking a few times during the night...
Tags on anything are one of her favorite things to play with.
Makes a lot of sounds and is saying "Mama"
Wearing 9-12 month clothes.
Hunter and Bow will make her laugh.  She loves watching Hunter walk behind us on the stairs.

Had her 6 month well child check up on her actual "birthday".  She checked out great and got 2 shots.
Stats:
18.6lbs (90%)
27.5" (97%)

She got pigtails for her 1/2 birthday:-)  Just a glimpse into the future when she has hair:-)

Aly's Bridal Shower

Malinda and I hosted a bridal shower for Aly earlier this month at the Vintage House in downtown Overland Park.  The venue was perfect and so cute!  We had a fun time showering Aly with gifts and enjoying great food prepared by Malinda:-)  It won't be long before Aly and Donnie are saying their "I Dos"!

Bride to be!

Yummy desserts!

So sweet...Donnie showed up with flowers for Aly

Eva turns 5 months old

And another month has gone by!  This little girl is just growing so fast.  This month she continued to lose her good sleeping habits.  Waking once and sometimes twice during the night.  Naps two to three times during the day for an hour at max each time.  But will occasionally sleep a little longer.  She had a 2.5 hour nap once or twice.  Her bedtime has gotten to be a little earlier and is usually in bed between 7-7:30.  If she doesn’t take much of an afternoon nap then she is down even earlier.  She likes to be in her jumper for a little while and will tolerate her swing for a few minutes.  She is getting a lot better about being on her tummy and playing but she still isn’t rolling over.  Our parent educator said it’s because she has more to move…I liked that answer and will take it.  The little lady does have some weight on her but if she would get a little more than halfway over, gravity should work in her favor!  We now have the walker out for her in the kitchen.  Her feet don’t touch the ground but it’s just another place for her to sit while we are in the kitchen.
Eva has been moving her mouth like she is talking, mimicking us when we are talking or singing to her.  The cutest thing is when Hunter says his ABCs, Eva will move her mouth with him.  I also, think it’s her favorite song because she always gets big smiles when singing it.  Eva loves to watch and study us while we eat.  I was going to hold her off until she was over 5 months to introduce food to her but I was starting to feel really bad watching her try to “eat” while we were eating so I decided to start her on rice cereal.  She does ok with it but doesn’t get as excited as I thought she would.  I am also hoping that the cereal will help her sleep a little better at night.  So far that’s not the case…
She loves to put things in her mouth, especially her clothes, my clothes, anything that is cloth and near her hands or face.  Along with liking to put everything in her mouth, she is starting to be ok with a pacifier.  Sometimes when we give it to her, she really calms downJ  She has even gone to sleep with it.  One night she didn’t want to nurse but wasn’t ready to be laid in bed, so she took her paci and held onto her blankie and peacefully went to sleep.  It was so sweet.  She enjoys listening to music and watching her “tv” in her bed.
Can't wait to see what her 6th month brings:-)  More smiles and fun memories for sure!

July Picture Update

Little Eva

Cole's 12th birthday.  This slide was awesome!  Hunter went down it once and that's all he wanted to do.  He had more fun squirting people with the water squirters.  Maybe next year he will like the slide more.
I went down a few times and the climb up was difficult!
Hunter and Cole

Our dog loves popcorn...it's hard to eat in peace.

Bow is such a patient dog.  He got his hair done by Hunter.

Playing trains at Gran and Gramps house

Watching big bubba play outside

We took Hunter to see Planes: Fire and Rescue.  For his birthday slide show this year, I had the theme song to Planes on it, when the movie started Hunter said "slideshow?!"
He thought he was going to watch his slideshow on the big screen:-)

Liking her jumper.  Her feet don't really touch right now but she can still get moving in it.

Hunter and Grandpa Bob

Hunter playing soccer at Cole's house.  They live in our neighborhood so walking over there and playing is a great way for Hunter to burn some energy!

Hunter trying to get a goat to take his bottle at Deanna Rose, aka the Farm  to Hunter

Although Hunter loves looking at the animals at Deanna Rose, "digging" ranks a little higher.
He could play digger for hours.

Hunter driving the tractor.

Eva and Gran

Practicing his golf swing

"Fore"  Hunter loves to golf and surprisingly can hit the ball pretty well.

Whenever Hunter is asked what he wants for dinner he will answer "lasagna".  It's a pretty random request but after days and days of answering this way I finally made him some.  It was the first thing he ate up!
He loves it and to hear him say "Lasagna" makes me smile.

Loved helping Daddy wash the cars

So much fun

When Hunter hears an airplane, he has to stop and look for it

Digging up our yard with his little digger while Bow watches

Playing with his rocket launcher.  Though the toys is great fun, retrieving rockets from the neighbors or trying to get them out of trees takes a lot of energy.
