Hunter turns 11 months!

My very busy baby boy turned 11 months on Saturday.  Wow.  At times when I’m holding him he doesn’t seem so big but then I look in the mirror and am shock to see how big my little boy is in my arms.  Many days when I come home from work, I look at him and think he grew up so much in the 9 hours I was away.

The happenings of Month 11:
  • Started to stand with balance for seconds at a time after I let go of his hands.
  • Enjoys walking around with his push walkers.
  • Will walk while holding one of your hands.
  • Went to the pool for the first time and many times since.  He is very “chill” in his floaty but once you take him out he is all about splashing.  He seems to enjoy the pool and loves when his friends come over to swim.
  • Likes to point out hats and place them on his head.  At first he would get them close to his head or throw the hat behind him but now he is getting good at putting Jeremy’s hat on his head.  Keeping a hat on is a whole other situation…let’s just say the hat isn’t on for more than a few seconds.
  • I took H to Petco to get dog food and H really enjoyed looking at all the different animals (bunnies, ferrets, mice, fish)
  • He is getting better at feeding himself.  More food is getting into his mouth rather than on the floor.  (plenty of food still makes it to the floor for Bow to have a meal, but H is getting better)
  • His favorite thing to say is “Bow”.  He will say Bow, Boooooooooooooooooooow, BOW and BOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.  It’s pretty cute.  The first thing he wants when he wakes up is Bow.  If only Bow new how much Hunter really loves himJ
  • Really enjoys a game of “Where’s Hunter?” – at his high chair he will turn his head to one side and wait for us to say “where's hunter?” and then he will turn and look at us with a big smile.  He will also “hide” in Bow’s nook and wait for us to say where's Hunter and will crawl out with a smile.  And he will also stand on his head and wait to hear “where’s Hunter” and will sit up and clap.

  • Another game we play is “Call Bow into Hunter’s room.”  We will close the door and call Bow and he will come running in…we send Bow out, close the door and do it over and over and over.  Bow will finally get tired of it and stop playing.
  • Hunter had his first trip to Old Shawnee Days.  We went on the last day a few hours before closing so it wasn’t very crowed.  H enjoyed looking at all the people and the carnival rides.
Old Shawnee Days

  • Hunter had a stretch of a week and a half of being sick.  He started out with a fever for over 24 hours and then he got a cold.  It was so sad to see him not feeling well.  The cough lasted forever and his poor nose wouldn’t stop running.  The nose sucker worked great on H and at times he didn’t seem to mind it.  (other times was a huge war and H usually won)  Baby vicks on his chest every night helped (I think).  Ironically he did sleep through the night twice while he was sick.  So he has now slept through the night 5 times in 48 weeks.  And needless to say Jeremy and I caught the bad bug too.
  • Went to the Zoo and T-Bones game
  • My cousin Ang was in town and we favor one another in looks.  We think Hunter picked up on this because while I was at work Ang got to hang out with him and took to her right away.  When I got home from work, H was sitting with her but did a few double takes between us.  It was cute.
  • While eating, H is now trying to feed me his food.  He also likes to clap my hands together.
  • We don’t let Bow lick us but for some reason we are okay with him licking Hunter.  Hunter thinks it’s pretty funny and doesn’t mind.  One day Bow was licking on his hands and H decided to close his hand and grabbed Bow’s tongue!  Bow kept his mouth shut for a whileJ
  • First haircut.  Jeremy has said for months that H need a haircut and it finally became time that I agreed.  Hunter did perfect!  (blog to come)

  • One night while H was nursing before bed, he waved to me…very sweet.  His way of saying “nighty night”
  • Went to Wyatt’s tball games.
  • Likes to throw and give Bow his dog toys.  And loves to hug and pet Bow.
  • As for eating he does fairly well.  When he was sick he didn’t have much of an appetite.  Tired lots of new fruits this month, salmon and potatoes.
  • Sleeping is pretty consistent.  2 naps during the day and wakes up once during the night to nurse.
  • Nursing and taking his bottle – nurses well when we are in his room, lights off, either before or after a nap.  Not much new on a bottle…usually b/w 2-4oz but he did have a few 5ouncers this past week.  He likes to drink out of a straw cup and enjoys putting a sippy cup up to his mouth but doesn’t tip it to drink from it.  So we are still holding his cups/bottles.

Getting this monthly picture is becoming very difficult!
