Christmas 2012

Hunter woke up early on Christmas morning (like every little boy should) but he didn’t wake happy.  I took him into our bed to see if that would calm him but it didn’t.  So we went downstairs to let Bow out and to look at the Christmas tree.  While we were looking at the tree I could hear Hunter’s tummy rumbling.  He really hadn’t ate much the day before so I thought he must be hungry and maybe now he will eat!  I gave him some yogurt and he seemed to like it and ate a good amount.  I thought that I would fix him some oatmeal since he was eating so well.  Well…once the oatmeal was made he stopped eating.  But at least I knew he had something in his tummy now.  We went back upstairs to wake Jeremy up.  Once Jeremy was awake, Hunter made his way back down to the tree to check out what Santa brought him!  He looked at his new toys and looked through his stocking.  Hunter seemed to like all of his gifts!  One nice thing that Santa did was that he didn’t leave packaging on most of the toys and had them put together so he could play with them immediately.

After present time (which took a while), we tried to eat again.  Not a success.  So we played with toys and let him watch one of his Sing and Sign dvds.  (I really should do a blog post on these…he loves them and will sit and watch and sign along with it.  So cute.)  Naptime came, and again he went down easily.  After he went down, I cleaned in the kitchen and then decided to sit down.  I was feeling exhausted.  (first sign of sickness)  an hour later my stomach was hurting (thought I needed to eat)  an hour later I was figuring out that I was sick and that Hunter probably wasn’t teething but he was sick.  After Hunter woke from his nap we headed over to Jeremy’s parents house.  I wasn’t feeling well but thought, surely I could last a few hours and enjoy the rest of Christmas day.  Again, we arrived and Hunter was being shy.  I think the amount of people there and him being sick played into his shyness.  Before long he was fine and was playing with new toys.  We opened presents (which I don’t even remember…I was trying not to be sick).  Jeremy’s mom wasn’t feeling well either and ended up having the bug too.  We sat down to eat dinner and Hunter was actually eating more than he had in a while.  Made me very happy.  But it wasn’t long and I had to excuse myself…sickness was hitting a new level.  I now felt horrible and Jeremy took me home so I could be miserable by myselfJ  I called my mom to warn her of how I was doing and that H was sick not teething.  She then spread the word to everyone that I was sick.  A few hours later my mom reported that Aly was sick.  The next day Wes was sick and then finally my mom got it.

While I was sick at home, Hunter was having a great time with his dad, grandparents, great-grandparents and great Uncle.  Jeremy said Hunter was in good spirits playing with everyone and spending good holiday time together.  I was sad I missed it.  So needless to say…I took one picture at Jeremy’s parents...bummed about that too.

Christmas Eve 2012

Christmas Eve morning Jeremy went hunting so Hunter and I hung at home doing our own thing and gearing up for the afternoon.  Hunter didn't eat much for breakfast, seemed kinda off and had some icky diapers.  I was thinking that maybe he was teething since he hasn't gotten a new tooth since September.  (still only 4 on top and 2 on bottom)  He went down for his nap really well and continue to sleep for 3 hours until we woke him.  At this point I was thinking well maybe he just doesn't feel that well...but still probably teeth.  We got Hunter dressed and loaded up the car and headed over to my parents house to celebrate with my family.  Hunter was really shy when we got to the house but it didn't take him too long to warm up and start playing with his cousins.

We had our usual Pine and Bamboo dinner but added a few new traditions.  My mom and dad made up a Christmas Trivia game.  I was skeptical at first but it was pretty fun.  Malinda ended up winning.  Jeremy seems to think she cheated:-)  Another tradition that by brother Andy started was having everyone bring a poem to read.  Again, skeptical but it turned out really well.  It was fun to hear what poems everyone picked.  Hunter and Bow went in on a poem together and told a story of a boy and his dog.

Present time was crazy.  There were so many gifts for everyone.  Hunter enjoyed stepping on the packages.  (he really likes to purposely step on things so he had a great time with a floor covered with presents)  One of the presents he took to right away was his Brown Bear Book.  He took it to Uncle Jeremy and Donnie and sat on their laps to look at it.  By time all the presents were opened, it was passed Hunter’s bedtime and you could tell the little buddy was getting tired.  Uncle Andy walked him around for a little bit and cooled him off with a washcloth and Hunter’s second wind took effect.  He continued to play for a little while longer with his cousins while Jeremy loaded up the car with all the gifts.

We put Hunter’s jammies on him before we left in case he would fall asleep in the car.  We got home and the little boy was awake so we read The Night Before Christmas and then he was ready to sleep.

a few trips to the pumpkin patch

Hunter and I went to Schaake's Pumpkin Patch in Lawrence with Malinda, Weston, my mom and brother, Andy a few weeks ago.  The boys had a blast!  Hunter really liked the pumpkins but thought they are balls and would try to kick them.

Then over the weekend Hunter and I went with Jeremy's mom, sister and kids to Weston Red Barn Farm.  It was very chilly so all the kiddos were bundled up but we all had a great time (even though Hunter doesn't look to happy in the following pics!)  I didn't do a great job getting pictures but Shannon had her camera so I need to get her pictures!

Haircut Time

Hunter was long overdue for his 2nd haircut.  I decided to take him to Sports Clips by our house and it was a great experience.  The girl who cut his hair worked at a childrens salon before Sports Clips so she knew what she was doing:-)

Jeremy and I love how the haircut turned out.  Our little baby looks like a big boy now.

This is the closest shot I have for a "before shot"

After:-)
