Pumpkin Patch Bust

On Friday, Hunter and I headed to Lawrence with my mom and dad for Hunter and Westons first visit to the pumpkin patch.  We pulled up to Schaake's Pumpkin Patch and all we could see was dust flying around.  Since everything was so dry and the wind gusts were crazy all the gravel and dirt has stirring around.  Our little ones didn't need to inhale all that so we decided not to get out of the car.  So we spent the afternoon at Malinda's house with the boys.  Even though we didn't get to do our first pumpkin patch adventure, we had a fun time hanging with family.  Hopefully we will make it to another patch soon.

Hunter's Bath

Last week Hunter moved from having a bath in the bathroom sink to taking one in his baby-tub.  Hunter seems to like bath time and the new tub has been great!  I really like the froggy thing that is placed on him to keep him warm during his bath.  Thank you Kate and Emily for the gift:-)

Back to Work

Last week I ended my maternity leave and started back up at work.  I knew it was going to be tough to leave my little boy all day but also knew I was leaving him in great hands.  With my mom watching Hunter, I couldn't ask for anything better.  We are lucky to have her come to our house in the morning so we don't have to wake Hunter and get him out the door at a certain time.

The first day was the hardest but my co-workers tried to make it better for me.  When I arrived to work I had a new big box of Kleenexes, a halloween hat for Hunter and a fun mothers necklace for me:-)  I pretty much cried all day but no one cared.  By the third day, I only teared up.  I call that a success.  I have a co-worker who had a baby boy in June so we have lots of stories to share which makes for a lot of non-productive work time.

For the month of October, I am able to work 3 days and have Monday and Friday off.  This way I can ease back into the work scene and still get 4 days of Hunter in a row.  For having to go back to work, I'm lucky that I work in such a flexible environment with a wonder, understanding boss!

Happy 3 year Adoption Anniversary to Bow!

3 years ago on a beautiful Sunday afternoon Jeremy and I gave our little boy Bow a home!  We always knew we wanted a golden retriever and Jeremy was specific on the kind he wanted...a darker red male.  So I was on the hunt for one.  After many searches and calls asking if the puppies they had were "darker" I finally ran across one.  I informed Jeremy that I think I finally found a breeder with the puppy we wanted.  So we drove to Waverly KS where we met many beautiful dogs.  Luckily for us it wasn't hard to pick Bow out.  There were 3 litters of pups and with our specific request the breeder found the darkest one, held it up and said "It's a Boy!"  So we took him out and played and watched him play with his brothers and sisters.  We were also able to see his Mom and his Grandpa.

3 years later, Bow is still our little (big) pup.  We can't imagine life without him!  He makes us smile and laugh everyday.  Bow has been a great big brother to Hunter and we can't wait for them to be best buddies!

Happy 2 Months to Hunter!

Hunter is now 2 months old!  He celebrated by going to a doctors appointment, Past and Presents and to Gran and Gramps for lunch.  Later that night we were going to visit Andy at the Shawnee BBQ but we couldn't make it.  More on why later...

Hunter's 2 month Stats:

12lbs 14 oz (before the appointment I made mom guess how much he weighed and she was right on!  I guessed 12lbs, 8oz...I think he would have weighed that if I didn't feed him right before the apt:-)

24" long

Monthly Picture...ok...a few of them b/c they are cute!

He isn't sleeping he was getting ready to sneeze...

And his newborn and 1 month...

At his doctors appointment Hunter was given 3 shots...very sad for his momma to hear him scream (yes I had tears too) but it didn't take too long for him to calm down.  He slept for a few hours while my mom and I went to Past and Presents and ate lunch at her house.  When we got back to my house, Hunter woke up, nursed, and stretched for a while on my lap.  Then we went upstairs to get him ready for the BBQ.  Hunter had some good "table time" on the changing table while he got his diaper changed and new clothes on.  But all of a sudden he started crying...not only crying but SCREAMING. The scream was saying he was in pain.  We took his pants off to look at his leg and one of his legs was bright red.  He was having a reaction to his immunization.  I called the doctors office and they recommended Tylenol and a cold compress on his leg and if he wasn't better in a few hours take him to the ER.  Um ok.  There wasn't any way we could put a cold compress on his leg because he would only scream louder.  My poor baby cried and screamed for 2 hours.  It was worse then when he got his shot...yes I had tears again.  He finally fell asleep and was all smiles when he woke up.  I was careful not to touch his leg for the next 24 hours, in fear that I would hurt him.  That is why we couldn't go to the BBQ but we will be there for you next year Uncle Andy!

Pictures of Hunter's legs before the reaction.

Hunter's Baptism

Last Sunday, Hunter was baptized at St. Joseph's Church.  I had to wake him up from a nap to get him ready so I didn't know if he fall back to sleep or not but ready or not we had to go.  God must have been watching over us during mass because the little angel slept the whole time!  I think Jeremy rocking his carseat during mass was the key:-)  After mass and for most of the ceremony Hunter took a bottle and was a rockstar when the priest poured water on his head.  So proud of our little child of God.  After the ceremony we had family over for cake.  It was a great day spent with the ones who bless our little baby:-)

How crazy that a year has gone by and our little niece is one year old!  Cally had a great birthday party and got some really fun presents.  Here are some pics of the little cutie!  (sorry for the blurry pictures...I hope to get a nicer camera soon!)
